Keysource would like to congratulate the IT teams at Yorkshire Water and PGS, who were both recognised at the 2010 UK IT Industry Awards for their best practice and innovation. Yorkshire Water won the IT Department of the Year award, whilst PGS was runner-up in the same category.
Keysource works closely with both companies to ensure their data centre infrastructures achieve high levels of efficiency and performance, so we are delighted that their dedication and success has been acknowledged by the IT Industry.
The PGS data centre, opened in 2009, has increased efficiency by 45 per cent, saving £650,000 in its first year and achieving 2.9 million kg reduction in annual CO2 emissions. Meanwhile, Yorkshire Water reduced the power usage of its data centre by 25 per cent by undertaking an data centre energy efficiency assessment. This process identified quick wins and best practice to achieve these savings with virtually no investment.
The 2010 UK IT Industry Awards is jointly run by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Computing magazine. The winners of the 25 award categories were announced at a special dinner at Batterseak Park Events Arena and presented by Jon Culshaw.
