Keysource and the University of Leicester have been shortlisted for the Environmental Project of the Year category at the 2011 UK IT Industry Awards for the design and build of a purpose-built data centre for the university. The highly efficient data centre has not only dramatically reduced energy usage and boosted operational performance, but also enabled the University to consolidate its on-campus technology infrastructure.
The UK IT Industry Awards is jointly hosted by BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, and Computing magazine, and provides a platform for the IT industry to showcase and celebrate best practise, innovation and excellence. The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a prestigious prize-giving ceremony taking place on 10th November at Battersea Park Arena in London.
Mike West, Managing Director of Keysource, commented: “This nomination recognises our ability to develop leading data centres that not only achieve optimum performance, but also significantly reduce an organisation’s environmental impact. The University of Leicester facility has reduced the energy consumption required for cooling by more than 80 per cent, whilst increasing the IT load compared to the previous data centre.”
