ScoLocate selects Keysource

Date: 19th October 2010

ScoLocate Updated 2011ScoLocate has teamed up with Keysource to double the size of Scotland’s largest purpose-built co-location facility as part of an £8 million investment.

Under the agreement, the data centre solutions provider has been tasked with designing and building the latest phase of development at the South Gyle site in Edinburgh, which will create one of the most energy efficient facilities of its kind in the UK.

Work will be completed in two phases to double the hosting capability at the 3,300 sq m data centre by fitting out previously unused building space. Phase one of the expansion is due for completion by the end of February 2011, with remaining capacity operational from May.

Already recognised as one of the most resilient and efficient commercial data centres in the UK, the new facility will be designed with a strong emphasis on energy efficiency with free cooling systems that take advantage of the colder average weather in Scotland and use locally produced renewable energy to achieve a minimal carbon footprint.

Mike West, Managing Director of Keysource commented: “We are delighted to be appointed as the ScoLocate Data Centre design and build partner and we share the same passion to deliver highly efficient facilities without compromising resilience. We look forward to working closely with the team at ScoLocate to develop an industry-leading facility and support their business strategy moving forward.”

Roy Maxwell, Managing Director of ScoLocate added, “We selected Keysource because of their strong track record in delivering efficient, high quality and flexible data centre solutions, and their ability to deliver a fast-track project on-time and within a strict budget.”

ScoLocate is uniquely positioned in Scotland to provide clients with world class facilities that require robust connectivity and benefit from the dual HV power supply. ScoLocate was set up in 1999 and now provides a wide range of businesses and public sector organisations with remotely hosted computer services. Strong organic growth in the past few years has seen expansion plans at the Edinburgh-based facility brought forward to ensure the company is able to meet the needs of new and existing customers.
