Keysource Acts Fast for Norfolk PCT
The Challenge: Norfolk Primary Care Trust’s new data centre needed to replace a previous facility that was situated at a building scheduled for closure, resulting in tight timescales being issued by the client. Keysource relocated the main data centre to Norwich on behalf of Norfolk PCT as part of a reorganisation of its IT infrastructure.
The Solution: Keysource was appointed to design and build a cost-effective solution that would accommodate the IT equipment from the existing facility, and provide all racking, cooling and power requirements. The new facility and dedicated Communications room now houses an efficient and secure solution that incorporates multiple server and comms racks, UPS system, fire suppression, and environmental monitoring. Keysource also provide ongoing maintenance support across multiple IT sites including emergency response to ensure any downtime is minimised.
The Benefits: Due to tight timescales, Keysource completed the installation in just 6 weeks without major disruption and minimal operational downtime.
Mike West, Managing Director of Keysource says:“Our approach to data centre design is to understand the IT requirements first and then work back understanding the room limitations and implications along the way. This has enabled us to develop an effective IT environment for NHS Norfolk that safeguards network and system availability. Keysource is working with an increasing number of councils, education and healthcare organisations throughout the UK and is fast becoming the data centre partner of choice within the public sector.”
